Dr. Bucher's Presentation:

Building Cultural Intelligence: Providing Students with the Skills They Absolutely Need in a Global Environment

In the 21st Century, cultural intelligence (CQ) is becoming crucial to student success in college and careers. Therefore, it is impreative that we integrate CQ megaskills into what we teach and how we teach; whether in the traditional classroom or online. Once you complete this highly interactive workshop, you will leave with specific activities and strategies that you can use to promote cultural intelligence amongst your students. Key CQ competences will be addressed including shifting perspectives, dealing with bias, checking cultural lenses, intercultural communication, and understandeing the dynamics of power. Participants will engage in a wide variety of thought-provoking, classroom-tested exercises which can be used effectively in class. Finally, participants will be given self-assessments in order to evaluate their CQ, identify their own strengths as well as areas that need further development.
